Is a AED available to a tax write off? For USA?
I am citizen of The United States of America. I am thinking about purchasing a AED to keep with me for the unexpected. (Automatic External “Defibrillator”). I am certified to use one/have one and certified to perform proper CPR. They are a little expensive to me but I am curious.
So can I use it as a Tax write off?
anyone know any great deals on purchasing one?
If you have a medical need for one for yourself, your spouse on your joint return, or a dependent claimed on your return, then the cost is deductible as a medical expense, subject to the usual 7.5% AGI limitation. This of course assumes that you itemize your deductions. If you don’t then it’s not deductible.
If you just want it as something “nice to have” then it’s not deductible.
