The use of automated external defibrillators can save many lives

With heart disease is the leading cause of death United States, there are medications and devices to help eliminate this devastating killer. So many people in this country suffer from some form of illness Cardiovascular and there are many different forms of this disease.

Sudden cardiac arrest are many causes of these deaths. The main cause of sudden cardiac arrest is ventricular fibrillation which is an abnormal heart rhythm. When this happens, it stops the blood flow to the brain, vital organs and cells. Immediate assistance is needed to restore a normal heart rhythm. Then automatic external defibrillators, also known as AEDs, are essential to the job. When patients in the hospital suffering from the fibrillation, they are treated with defibrillation immediately and they can survive. If a person is at home or elsewhere than in a hospital suffering from abnormal rhythms they can die without defibrillation. Each minute that the ventricular fibrillation is allowed to reduce the chances of resuscitation about 10 percent. If it reaches 10 minutes, the chance is generally disappeared.

Fortunately, in the 1980s, automated external defibrillators come into play to save lives outside the hospital. The device itself can read the heartbeat of the person and becomes abnormal if it can automatically perform a defibrillation shock with very little help from the operator. Automated external defibrillators were first used by professionals and EMS ambulances so that patients could be revived before arrival at hospital. This alone saved many lives because of the rapid response of less than 10 minutes.

Another step in the use of automated external defibrillators has become the public access defibrillation, also known as PAD. It was found the proper use of automated external defibrillators was easy to teach and easy for the general public. In some public places, there are actually automatic external defibrillators mounted on a wall, a person can use if someone suffers from cardiac arrest. These sites can be an airport, a train station, shopping mall or other crowded places. However, different states have different rules on the use of automated external defibrillators. They may require more formal training amongst other reasons. But the use of defibrillators by a person that can save a life is really important goal of the CCA.

The AED must be activated by a simple button. A computerized voice will guide you on how to operate the defibrillator. electrode pads are included with the defibrillator to be placed on the patient's chest and voice DEA direct where they should be placed. Sometimes, the connectors of platelets' need to be connected to the EDA, and voice will also guide you if and when necessary.

The defibrillator will immediately check the heartbeat of the person and discuss the need for shock. Never touch the person while the machine is running because he can change the reading. If the defibrillator determines the shock is necessary the voice tells you when to press the button indicated to send the shock. After the shock is over, the machine will instruct you to perform CPR.

It is the goal that automatic external defibrillators as common as are fire extinguishers in public places so that more people will have the chance to survive a cardiac arrest.
